Description	:	Elmer Ellsworth Gray was born at Blue Mound, Ill., October 25, 1863. He lived there until about the age of ten years when he lost both his father and mother in death. He was then taken into a home by a family by the name of Logan. He came west in 1881 with a sister, Mrs. Louis Black, and settled at Ellsworth, Kansas. Read More	Elmer Ellsworth Gray was born at Blue Mound, Ill., October 25, 1863. He lived there until about the age of ten years when he lost both his father and mother in death. He was then taken into a home by a family by the name of Logan. He came west in 1881 with a sister, Mrs. Louis Black, and settled at Ellsworth, Kansas. He later moved to Table Rock, Nebr., and went to work in a drug store. This was the beginning of his professional career. On June 20, 1895, he was united in marriage to Mrs. Lulu May McElhany at DuBois, Nebr. Four children were born to this union, Lyle Harold, who now lives at Ponca City, Okla., Glen Neal, Seattle, Washington; Leona Marguerite Crawford, Cimarron, Kansas; Howard Francis, Renton, Washington. His good wife passed to her heavenly home three years ago. All the above children, with one step-son, Floyd McElhany, Renton, Washington, and two grandchildren, Johnnie and Romona Crawford are left to mourn. He came with his family to Protection, Kansas, June 18, 1910, and settled on a farm north of Protection. He later bought a drug store and moved to town, remaining in this business for 17 years. In March, 1928, he sold his store and has been visiting among the children since. He was on a visit in Washington state when he took sick and was taken to a hospital at Tacoma, where, after nine days of illness he passed to his reward at the age of 64 years, 10 months and 2 days. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, the Woodman Lodge and a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church.
