Walker-Merrick Funeral Home in Clarinda was in charge of arrangements. Mr. Anderson died Monday, June 11, 2001, at Goldenrod Manor, Clarinda, Iowa, where he was a resident. He was born November 5, 1906, at a farm near Clarinda, Iowa, to Erick and Anna (Nelson) Anderson. He attended a one-room rural school through the fifth grade. He was baptized and confirmed at Fremont Covenant Church. His family attended the Fremont Church for most of his adult life. He married Winifred Hart, August 17, 1929. He farmed at three different farms with his father's farm being his place of residence since 1946. He lived alone following his wife's death until age 93, when he moved to the Eiler House in 1999. He was a resident there until a few weeks before his death. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Winifred Hart Anderson in 1993; two daughters, Phyllis Herzberg and Norma Anderson; two infant children; and a brother, Elov Anderson. Survivors include his son-in-law, Darwin Herzberg of Clarinda; son, Richard Anderson and his wife Janice, of Omaha; daughter Karen Brown and her husband, Ray, of Eastsound, Washington; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren.
