Biddison, Former County Official, Dies Elmer Grant Biddison, age 75, former state mine inspector, Athens County official mine superintendent and school teacher, died early this morning at the home of his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Charles D. Bill, 22 Franklin Ave. Tentative funeral services are announced for Saturday afternoon at two o’clock at the Church of Christ with interment in the West Union Street Cemetery. Mrs. Biddison was one of the eleven children of Thomas and Delilah Bryson Biddison, and was born in Trimble Township, Athens County. His grandfather, William Biddison, one of the early settlers of the Sunday Creek Valley, established a home near what is now Moxahala in 1818. Two brothers and two sisters preceded Elmer Biddison in death as did two of his own children, Ray and Lilly, and his wife, Elizabeth Sands Biddison, daughter of Joshua and Lucy John son sands. Mrs. Biddison died three years ago. Their marriage took place in 1886. Surviving Mr. Biddison are these children, Mrs. C. D. Bill, and Marc, of Athens; Mrs. Lucy Dreibelbis, Jacksonville, Fla.; and three brothers and sisters. T. G. Biddison, Akron; S. M. Biddison and C. L. Biddison, Clarksburg, w. Va.; S. J. Biddison, Stewart, O.; Mrs. Delilah Thomson, Athens, and Mrs. Chester Davis, Huntington, W. Va. Mr. Biddison became a teacher in the Athens County public schools at the age of 17 and was one of the outstanding instructors in the district. Late in his life, after retiring from coal mining, he was a teacher in Trimble Township and instrumental in the establishment of the Jacksonville-Trimble High School. He served as Athens County deputy surveyor under W. E. Peters and later was county surveyor and county treasurer. Later he was named state mine inspector by Governor Nash and for some years was a mine superintendent at Youngstown and in West Virginia. While he was engaged in his last public service, deputy under County Surveyor J. W. Wilson, he was stricken with paralysis two years ago and since had been in the home of his son-in-law and daughter in Athens.
