Description	:	Elmer J. Quick, 83, of Roseland, passed away Saturday morning, March 1, 2014, peacefully in his sleep. Born in Nelson County, he was the son of the late Kenneth and Bessie Quick. Elmer was a U.S. Navy veteran having served our country during the Vietnam Era from 1951-1955. He was also employed with RockTenn (formerly known as Mead Paperboard) as a painter, and was a member of Jonesboro Baptist Church. Read More	Elmer J. Quick, 83, of Roseland, passed away Saturday morning, March 1, 2014, peacefully in his sleep. Born in Nelson County, he was the son of the late Kenneth and Bessie Quick. Elmer was a U.S. Navy veteran having served our country during the Vietnam Era from 1951-1955. He was also employed with RockTenn (formerly known as Mead Paperboard) as a painter, and was a member of Jonesboro Baptist Church. He is survived by his beloved wife, Barbara Johnston Quick; his son, Gregory Quick and his wife, Cindy; grandchildren, Heather Snow and her husband, Jacob, Joshua Quick, and Nathan Quick; a sister, Virgie Gleason; and his 4-legged friend, Sophie. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Kelvin Layne Quick; brothers, Robert, James and John; and sisters, Bertha and Margie. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the nurses and aides of Hospice of the Piedmont and to Dr. Oldham of the Pearson's Cancer Center for all their loving care and support. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 4, 2014, at Byrum-Parr Funeral Home by the Rev. Wayne Underwood. Burial with military honors by American Legion Post 16 will follow in Jonesboro Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10 until 11 a.m. at the funeral home prior to the service.
