Theo Stephan, Pastor of Mackey Lutheran Church - Choir Sings The funeral of the late Elmer Stolte, son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Stolte, who passed away Feb. 2nd after contracting pneumonia, were held Wednesday afternoon, Feb. 4 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church at Mackey, with the Rev. Theo Stephan in charge. Music was provided by the school children and choir under the direction of Prof. J.L. Koch, who also played the organ. Honorary flower girls were Misses Dorothy Krumm and Vera Peter. Mrs. L. Blaess, Mrs. E. Eckley and Miss Edna Murken acted as assistants. Pallbearers were Marvin Blaess, Raymond Longhenry, Leroy Leininger, Lawrence Leininger, Wilbert Mitchel and Martin Mitchel. A large number of friends and relatives from out of the county attended the services. They were Mr. and Mrs. Chris Schmidt, Mrs. John Schmidt, Miss Jerald Toepfer, Miss Elsie Toepfer, Mr. Otto Branmuiur, all of Fairmount, Minn., Mr. and Mrs. E. Schnose and William Schnose of Wagner, S.D., Mrs. Herman Stolte, Mrs. Julius Krumm, Mrs. Clarence Williams of Cedar Rapids and Miss Etta Stolte of Des Moines. Life Sketch While enjoying the best of health Elmer was attacked by the sinister malady so much evident throughout the land - pneumonia. The best medical skill was at once provided, and the choicest nursing given by those near and dear. Hence the best of hopes could be entertained for the recovery of his former sturdy health. However, the Good Lord had provided otherwise. In His Grace He had made Elmer ready and well-prepared to be received into the eternal kingdom. Without fear of death he walked through the valley of death. On Monday morning, Feb. 2, when the sun arose over the distant hills, Elmer's soul was borne by the angels of God into the dazzling lights above to be in his eternal Father's house forevermore. Those Surviving Beside a great number of young and old friends and relatives the immediate mourners are: His parents, his sister Evelyn, his brother Donald and his infant sister Nadine, the latter also in ill health, whom the Good Lord may grant a recovery. His age was 13 years and 21 days. He who dies in the faith is sufficiently old. The departed, Elmer John Henry Stolte, was born to his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Stolte on Jan. 11, 1918 in Dodge Township, Boone County, Iowa. Sixteen days after his birth he was dedicated to the Triune God in holy baptism on Jan. 27, by the now sainted Pastor L. Kolb, then local pastor. Elmer's parents, having themselves been raised in devout households, realized the great value of an early training in the Word of God. Hence they entrusted their firstborn son in early boyhood to the tutorship of the esteemed Teacher Koch of the parish school where Elmer was well grounded in the fundamental truths of the Bible together with the essential branches required for a good secular education. In both studies the promising lad made gratifying progress standing at head of his classes. Last fall Elmer was enrolled among the class of confirmands to prepare for his first communion. Again here he applied himself diligently as is shown by the copious notes which he made in the new catechism received as a Christmas gift. This book will henceforth be a highly prized token of remembrance in the bereaved family. Have Birthday Party On his 13th birthday Elmer's little sister, Nadine, was baptized, and he enjoyed a birthday party of a number of his intimate friends who are today once more with him to carry his body to the final resting place while his soul is enjoying the companionship of holy angels and the reunion of beloved relatives just recently gone to their reward above.
