He received bachelor’s and master’s degrees at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, and married Lillian Quigley June 5, 1927, near North Bend. He was superintendent of schools of several small towns in eastern Nebraska before becoming administrator of the Masonic Home in Fremont. He moved to Sidney, NE in 1946, where he was owner-operator of Omar Court Apartments for 03 years and taught in the Sidney public school system... He moved to Sidney, NE in 1946, where he was owner-operator of Omar Court Apartments for 03 years and taught in the Sidney public school system for 20 years. He retired in 1974. He was a member of Light Memorial Presbyterian Church in Sidney, Providence Chapter 108 Order of Eastern Star and was worthy patron in 1964. He was a former worthy patron in Fremont in 1944. He was a member of Rotary Club and was its president and was Rotary district governor in 1976-1977. He was a member of Frank Welch Lodge 75 AF & AM and received the Jordan Medal. Elmer Julius Hartmann, 91, of Sidney, NE, formerly of Fremont, NE, died Wednesday, September 6, 1995, at Memorial Health Center of Sidney. Left to honor his memory are a daughter, Janet Flowerday of Derby, Kansas; a son, Arlan of Sidney, NE; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be 10:30 a.m. at Memorial Cemetery in Fremont, NE. The Rev. Dennis Hysom will officiate. Masonic rites will be conducted by member of Fremont Masonic Lodge 15 AF & AM. Holecheck Funeral Home in Sidney is in charge of arrangements.
