Hansen, 72, former owner of North American Manufacturing Co., Sioux City, now of Pahrump, Nev., died Thursday, Jan. 14, 1993, of an apparent heart attack while visiting in Herington, Kan. Services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Nelson-Berger Morningside Chapel with the Rev. Mike Pappadackis, of Third Presbyterian Church, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 2-9 p.m. today, with the family present 6-8 p.m., at the funeral home. Mr. Hansen was born Jan. 3, 1921, on a farm near Tilden, Neb., the son of August and Frieda Hansen.... He developed a self unloading grain wagon. In 1947, he moved into the downtown area of Sioux City to begin its manufacture. As the company (North American Manufacturing) grew, it moved to 3100 Correctionville Road, expanding its product line. In 1959, new facilities were built on Highway 20 East, where fork lifts, multi stop chassis and motor home chassis were also produced. He retired and sold the business in 1979. He married Catherine M. Lorenzen Feb. 12, 1950, in Tilden, Neb. In 1968, he was named Iowa “Small Businessman of the Year” by the Small Business Administration. The award was presented to him by Gov. Harold E. Hughes. Mr. Hansen was a longtime member of the Farm Equipment Manufacturing Association and former member of Grace Evangelical Reformed Church In Sioux City. Survivors include (redacted).
