Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Dubuque, with burial in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Farley, where military rights will be accorded by members of the Farley American Legion Post 656. Friends may call from 2 to 9 p.m. today at Egelhof, Siegert, and Casper Westview Funeral Home, 2659 Kennedy Road, where there will be a St. Anthony's Parish scripture wake service at 4:30 p.m., attended by the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 656, of Farley, at 6:45 p.m.; a prayer service by The Sisters of the Presentation at 3 p.m.; a memorial service by the American Legion Post 656, of Farley at 7 p.m.; and a rosary recited by the Fourth Degree Doubourg Assembly at 8 p.m. Mr. Lehmann farmed in rural Farley for more than 40 years. Following his retirement, he was employed at Burger King Restaurant, Dubuque, and Dyersville Sales Barn. He thoroughly enjoyed his work, co-workers and the people he met at his job sites. He was born on Jan. 6, 1928, in Worthington, son of Anton and Frances (Honkomp) Lehmann. He married his sweetheart, Marina Stecklein, on May 12, 1953, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Cascade. He was an army veteran, serving in the Korean War. He was a member and past commander of Farley Legion Post 656 and a member and past Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus Council 2001. He was also a member of the Fourth Degree Doubourg Assembly. He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Farley, until 1998 when he moved to Dubuque and became a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church. He was active in both parishes, having served as an usher and eucharistic minister. He loved God, his country and his fellow man. He was proud of his family and delighted in his grandchildren. He was a "people person" who loved to tease. His favorite saying was "The good die young. I'll live forever." He died at the young age of 72 and will live forever in the Kingdom of God. Surviving are his wife of 47 years, Marina; a son, Tony (Cathleen) Lehmann, of Dubuque; three daughters, Kathy Lehmann, of North Springfield, Va., Lisa (Ron) Barnett, of Newton, Iowa, and Gail (Joe) McMahon, of Dubuque; seven grandchildren, Sarah, Michael, John, and Anne Lehmann, Lauren Barnett, and Travis and Martina McMahon; two brothers, Clarence and William Lehmann, both of Farley; four sisters, Sr. Mary Lois Lehmann, PBVM, of Dayton, Florence Jaeger, of Holy Cross, Wilma Hogan, of Worthington, and Ruth McMahon, of Manchester. He was preceded in death by his parents; infant brother, John Lehmann; and two sisters-in-law, Verla Lehmann and Anna Mae Lehmann. An Elmer L. Lehmann Memorial Fund has been established.
