Pastor Carey Gossen will officiate. Burial will be in the Lebanon Cemetery in Lebanon, S.D., under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge. Elmer Morehead was born Oct. 3, 1906, at Ferndale, Wash., to Albert and Ada (Fletcher) Morehead. When he was four years old the family moved to Adaville, Iowa where Elmer's father operated a Blacksmith Shop for a short time. In 1910 they moved to Potter Co. and settled on a farm 12 miles south of Lebanon, the Copp Country. These were hard times as there were practically no crops for four years and the farm was lost so a move was made to Verndale, Minn., where they lived for one year before returning to Lebanon. After six years, the farm was purchased. This farm is where Elmer lived for 73 years. Elmer married Pearl Schedel on Dec. 7, 1942, and they had two daughters Carolyn and Sandra. Elmer was always interested in Flying and in 1945 earned a Pilots' license and in 1946 purchased a plane and enjoyed flying for 24 years. During this time he was a member of the South Dakota flying farmers. He also enjoyed the friendships that he made at the Medicine Rock Senior Citizens Center where he was a member and served on the board. Elmer and Pearl also attended the Grace Bible Church in Gettysburg for many years. In 1994 Elmer suffered a stroke while in Iowa and spent one month is Iowa City Hospital. After returning home it was necessary to leave the farm and move to Gettysburg where they have since resided. Elmer is survived by his wife Pearl of 62 years; daughters Carolyn and husband Bob Tecklenburg of Battle Ground, Wash., Sandra and husband Mark Mente of Tipton, Iowa; three grandsons Troy, Todd and Terry Mente all of Tipton, Iowa; and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters Florence, Bethel and Naomi. Casketbearers will be Troy Mente, Terry Mente, Dana Vail, Steve Knobel, Scott McPeck, Bob Westphal, Todd Storer. The Organist will be LaVon Vetter and the Pianist will be Dorcas Storer. The congregation will be sing "The Old Rugged Cross," "Amazing Grace," and "How Great Thou Art."
