Visitations are Thursday (today) from 3 to 9 p.m. at the Home for Funerals. Mr. McGinnis died April 19 at an Omaha hospital. He was born May 23, 1903, at Norfolk to the late Zel and Minna McGinnis. He attended the Norfolk schools and the University of Nebraska and was licensed and registered as a pharmacist in 1924 at Laramie, Wyo. He was employed three years at Laramie, then became licensed and registered in Nebraska. He spent two years in Norfolk, then went to Wisner where he owned and operated a drugstore for 40 years. Retiring and returning to Norfolk, he worked as a relief pharmacist for several Norfolk and area drugstores. He married Mae Miller on July 20, 1926, at Battle Creek. She survives as do two sons and one daughter, 1ames Miller (1930-2014) of Wisner, Howard Miller (1934-2013) of Cozad, and Mrs. Sally (1939) Chisholm of Lincoln, seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and one brother, Ray McGinnis of Los Angeles, Calif. Services for Elmer McGinnis, 79, Commodore Apartments, 1101 Norfolk Ave., took place April 22 at the Home for Funerals. The Rev. Louis J. Schweppe, pastor of the First Congregational United Church of Christ, officiated, and burial was in Prospect Hill Cemetery. Mrs. Bill Holland was organist. Serving as pallbearers were Capt. Michael McGinnis, 1st Lt. Scott McGinnis, Paul McGinnis, Andrew Chiaholm, Tony Bradford, and Larry McMaster.
