He was born on Jan. 27, 1916, at York, Neb., to Adam and Alvina (Fase) Biehl. He moved to Wenatchee in 1938, where he continued to make his home until entering the U.S. Army during World War II. He served with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in the Pacific Theater. Upon receiving his honorable discharge, he returned to make his home in East Wenatchee. He went to work at Keokuk and continued working there as it changed names to Foote Mineral and Hanna Mining. After putting in 35 years, he retired from Hanna Mining in 1981. He continued to make his home in East Wenatchee. Elmer was a longtime member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Wenatchee where he had just recently been honored for being head usher for over 20 years. He was also a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post No. 3617, East Wenatchee. He is survived by his wife, Maxine E. Biehl, East Wenatchee; one son, Dennis L. Biehl, Wenatchee; two stepdaughters, Lynn Griffith, Moses Lake, and Nancy Fishbourne, East Wenatchee; one brother, Les Biehl, Palmdale, Calif.; one sister, Hazel Smith, Oxnard, Calif.; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; four stepchildren from a previous marriage; and five stepgrandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sons, one stepson, four brothers and three sisters. Arrangements are by Telford's Chapel of the Valley, East Wenatchee.
