Severson were held Saturday at 2 pm at the Cambridge Lutheran Church with Rev. Harry Stoutland in charge, assisted by Rev. Peder Buland. Two Hymns "Rock of Ages" and "God Will Take Care of You" were sung by Rev Stoutland with Ruth Ann Lewis at the organ. Burial in the Palestine cemetery. Elmer Rufus Severson was born Jan 22, 1893 in Cambridge, Iowa and died July 11, 1951 at noon at the age of 58 years, 5 months and 19 days. He had been in ill health since last October when he suffered a stroke. He regained some strength but suffered another stroke which ended in death. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and grew to manhood in Palestine township. He was preceded in death by one daughter Norma Rae and leaves to mourn three daughter, Eleanor, Ruth and Helen, two sons, Robert and Norman, his aged mother, who will be 95 in October; one sister , Mrs Bessie Skola of Slater, two brothers, Oscar of Cambridge and John of Stanley, N. Dak; six grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.
