He was a member of St. Matthews By-The-Sea United Methodist Church in Fenwick Island, a 50 year member and officer of Doric Masonic Lodge #30 A.F. & A.M. of Millville, DE, a lifetime member of the Delaware Consistory and Scottish Rite Club of Wilmington, DE. He was also a member of the Tall Cedars of Lebanon of Milford, DE and a charter member of Roxana Volunteer Fire Company. Elmer was a veteran of the United States Army serving in WWII in Japan. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Ruth Ann (Savage) Evans. A funeral and Masonic services will be held at 1 pm on Tuesday, February 15, at the Frankford Chapel of MELSON FUNERAL SERVICES. Friends may call Monday evening at the funeral home from 6-8 pm. Rev. Bruce Miller will officiate. Interment will be held at the Roxana Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions in Elmer's name to the Roxana Volunteer Fire Company, 35901 Zion Church Rd., Frankford, DE 19945 or St. Matthews By-The-Sea United Methodist Church, 1000 Coastal Hwy., Fenwick Island, DE 19944.
