Description	:	Elmer Meidinger, 91, of Miles City passed away on Sunday, January 16, 2011 at Holy Rosary Extended Care. Elmer was born on April 27, 1919 in Medina, North Dakota, the son of August and Magdalena (Keck) Meidinger. He first attended school in Medina, then continued his education in Savage, Montana where his family moved to find work. At the age of 14, Elmer went to work for the Civil Conservation Corp at Gallatin Gateway, Montana, completing his education in Bozeman, Montana. Elmer was born on April 27, 1919 in Medina, North Dakota, the son of August and Magdalena (Keck) Meidinger. He first attended school in Medina, then continued his education in Savage, Montana where his family moved to find work. At the age of 14, Elmer went to work for the Civil Conservation Corp at Gallatin Gateway, Montana, completing his education in Bozeman, Montana. Elmer returned to Savage where he worked as a farmhand. At the age of 21, Elmer was drafted into the United States Army, serving during World War II for four years. Following his honorable discharge, he moved back to Savage and worked with his brother, Ed Meidinger. After about a year, they moved to Kinsey, Montana where he met and married Viola Pasicznyk on November 4, 1947. Elmer worked as the pump operator for the Kinsey Irrigation Company for 41 years until he retired. Elmer loved to garden and enjoyed all kinds of puzzles, including rubik's cubes. He liked trapping, taking his kids fishing, and giving swimming lessons in the irrigation ditch. He was a jack of all trades. His family was very important to him. Elmer is survived by his wife of 63 years, Viola Pasicznyk Meidinger of Miles City, MT; a son, Chris Meidinger (Andrea Senrud) of Miles City, MT; four daughters: Donna (Les) Hirsch of Tongue River, MT; Dolores (Rick) Willson of Miles City, MT; Carol (Tom) Winchell of Glendive, MT; and Cindy (Garth) Anderson of Blue Springs, MO; a son-in-law, Walter Malone of Gilbert, AZ; 15 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Elmer was preceded in death by a daughter, Darlene Malone; his parents, seven brothers and two sisters.
