Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 11, 2017 at the First United Methodist Church with Pastor Sara Nelson officiating. Elmer Warren Amy, the son of George S. and Mathilda (Krause) Amy was born on October 24, 1920 in Watertown, South Dakota. He grew up in Watertown where he attended Mellette Elementary School and Watertown High School. He worked for Langenfeld's and was then drafted into the United States Army in July of 1944. He served as a sergeant in the 99th Infantry in World War II, and fought in the Battle of the Bulge. He was honorably discharged in May of 1946. Warren married Lorraine Loats on June 20, 1953 at the First United Methodist Church in Watertown. Warren returned to work at Langenfeld's following the war. He continued to work with Terrace Park and then Land O'Lakes as the companies were bought out. He retired in 1983. Warren worked at odd jobs during his retirement, with one being the West Side Car Wash. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, bowling, visiting with people and traveling throughout the United States. He was an avid Minnesota Vikings and Minnesota Twins fan. Warren is survived by his wife, Lorraine of Watertown; his son, Jeff (Nadine) Amy of Elgin, IL; his daughter, Carol (Steve) Kappenman of West Des Moines, IA; his siblings, Alvin "Turk" Amy and Gladys Amy of Watertown; a sister-in-law, Connie Amy of Watertown; five grandchildren, Kristin (Richard) Frese, Kara Amy, Matt, Ryan and Jessica Kappenman; three great grandchildren, Brandon, Savannah and Nathan Frese; and his nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and three brothers, Glen, Merle "Ace" and Don Amy. - Wight & Comes Funeral Chapel
