Music at the church was furnished by Mrs. Matt Shankland of Laurens, who sang "The Old Rugged Cross" and "In the Garden" and by Miss Pat Willfong at the organ. Mrs. Hans Larson, Mrs. Julian Jensen and Mrs. George Bryant were in charge of the flowers. Bearers were George Bryant, Lslie Myers, Walter Jensen, Kenneth Kuhn, Glen Uren and Artie J. Nelson. OBITUARY: Elmore C. Huxtable, son of William and Leah Huxtable, was born at Newell, Iowa, June 2, 1886 and passed away at the Buena Vista County hospital at the age of 68 years, 11 months and 7 days. Mr. Huxtable had been in ailing health for three years and his condition had been very serious the past two months. Through all this time he was cheerful, patient and uncomplaining, taking a keen interest and enjoyment in the active lives of all those around him. Ferna Leeper, his sister-in-law, who had made her home with the Huxtable family for many years, has stood by them all in a wonderful way during their time of stress. Mr. Huxtable spent his entire life in and near Newell. He was graduated from Newell High School and attended Iowa State College at Ames. He was a member of the Methodist church of Newell, although the family made their church home in the Presbyterian church of Sulphur Springs until that church was inactivated. On March 24, 1924, he was united in marriage to Alice Lenora Leeper of Pleasanton, Iowa. Following their marriage, they made their home on the Huxtable farm west of Newell, where they lived until about 15 years ago, when they moved to their home in Sulphur Springs. To this union three daughters were born; Leah (Mrs. Donald Waterman) of Newell, Margie (Mrs. Severn Towe) of Paullina and Lucille (Mrs.Don Lawson) of Santa Ana, Calif. For some years Mr. Huxtable was in the insurance business with his father, and since his father's death, he has conducted the agency. Mr. Huxtable was a member of the IOOF Lodge of Newell. He was a loving and kind husband and father and his friends were numbered by all who knew him. His parents and his beloved wife, Leonora, preceded him in death, as did also three sisters, Nora (Mrs. Edwin Lewis), Jen (Mrs. J.H. Hovenden) and Ada (Mrs. L.B. Phillips). Surviving are the three daughters and their husbands, one sister, Mrs. Fred Zinn of Newell, five grandchildren, Curtis Lee and Jan Waterman, Lynn Lenor and Jeffry Lee and Paige Lawson, also other relatives and a host of friends.
