He was 74. Elmore Limberhand Jr., was born in Lame Deer on April 3, 1932, the son of Bessie American Horse and Elmore Limberhand, Sr. He was a direct descendent of Chief George American Horse. He was raised in the Forsyth area; he attended grade school in Forsyth and attended high school in Busby. He enlisted in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict at Okinawa in 1950 and was honorably discharged in 1953. He married Nancy Yellowrobe on Dec. 6, 1949, and divorced on Aug. 6, 1961, and to this union they had seven children. He married Cecelia Big Back in Forsyth in 1961 and divorced in 1980; they had four children of this marriage. On Oct. 19, 1980, he married Bertha Big Back and they had one son. He worked as a cabinet maker in California; he attended and became a certified mechanic from Lincoln Vo-Tech School under the Relocation program in Denver in 1969, and he was also employed with the Bureau of Indian Affairs Law Enforcement Services for 30 years, retiring in 1998. Elmore enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing horseshoe, listening to western music, and he liked to travel. In high school, he participated in basketball, and he later owned his own fast pitch softball team. He loved to watch Major League Baseball; his favorite team was the Cincinnati Reds, and he also loved to watch his children and grandchildren play high school basketball. He tried to attend nearly all of their games. He was loved and will be missed by all, "Ne me'hota'tse (we love you much)." "Ne'stae'a'evaho'se vo'oma'tse (we will see you again). " He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Bertha; and his brothers, Maurice of Lame Deer, George of Wolf Point; and sister Erlyce Littlewhirlwind; his children, Douglas (Anna), June, Faron (Doreen), Doris (Windy) Bad Brave, Daniel (Alvina), Elmore III (Gladys), Lori (Ike) Walksalong, Tim (Charlene), Maybelline Big Back, Johnathan (Michelle) Longsioux, David Longsioux; nephews and nieces, Darlene, Maureen (Loy) Bryant, Maurice Jr., Donovan (Lori), Enoch (Aletha), Maxine (Leon), Claudell, Oly, Pauletee; grandchildren, Landon Medicine Bull, James, Douglas Jr., Joshua, Isiah, Rachael, Rebecca, Charity, Blane, Savannah; Logan Curly Jr., Pete, Leona and April Bearscomesout, Micheal Elkshoulder, Alesha Big Back, Byron, Nicole, Susan, David, Leland Bad Brave, Faron Jr., Ryan, Flora, Celesta, Naomie, Kyle, Adrian, Monica, George, Micheal, Rusty, Danial, Sean, Cinnamon, Nina, Tena, Elmore IV, Terry Big Back, Carlotta and Raymond Holmes, Aletha, Mitchel Littlebird, Montag Big Back, Nathlen and Destiny Longsioux, Jasmine, Sky, Kyle, Mahala Longsioux, Cheyenne and Jennifer, Melenie, Dexter and Dala Poitra, Roger, Richard, Alusha Tyler Cook, Lenny Youngbear, Deanna, Sky, Donovan Jr., Cortney, Sharon, Kayla, Terrance, Chanda, Darren, Cade, Oliver Seminole, Jenna and Hunter, and 44 great-grandchildren.
