Description	:	Elnor Lorraine Long, 96, of Minden, formerly of Eddyville, died Friday, March 18, 2011, at the Long Term Care Unit of Kearney County Health Services in Minden. Family services were private. Burial was at Minden Cemetery. She was born Aug. 23, 1914, on a farm south of Eddyville to Milton and Gertrude (Williams) Summers. On Dec. 26, 1934, she married Jule Long in Lexington. He died in 1991. Burial was at Minden Cemetery. She was born Aug. 23, 1914, on a farm south of Eddyville to Milton and Gertrude (Williams) Summers. On Dec. 26, 1934, she married Jule Long in Lexington. He died in 1991. Survivors include her son, Robert Long of Minden; daughter, Karen Vitera and her husband, Robert, of Minden; four grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. When Elnor was 11, her mother died. Elnor attended rural school in Dawson County and graduated from Lexington High School in 1931. Elnor then taught in rural Dawson County Schools. In 1949, Elnor started working at the Eddyville Post Office as a part-time clerk. She became a full-time clerk in 1952 and July 1, 1973, she became postmaster until her retirement in 1983. Jule and Elnor moved to Minden in 1984 to be near their children. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Ellen L. McClure.
