Montee Dead On Sunday morning about 9 o'clock Mrs. A.A. Montee died at her home on the Base Line from the effects of a dose of carbolic acid. As soon as it was discovered she was suffering, Dr. A.D. Hays of this city was called, but she lived but a few minutes after he arrived. Mrs. Montee had the flu about a year ago and she has never fully recovered. It is thought by the friends that she suffered more than was known. Our observation of the family is such that we always picture Mr. and Mrs. Montee together with their little ones, Bert usually carrying one, and they were more interested in each other than the usual married couple. It was indeed a shock to hear of her death. Miss Nora Harris spent her childhood at Walnut, being raised by an aunt, Mrs. Lillie Herd. She was married at Neosho, Mo., in 1904 to Mr. A.A. Montee and they lived at Walnut, Girard and finally drifted to the old Montee homestead on the Base Line. She was 37 years of age. Besides the husband she leaves the following children: Gerald, 16, Mary, 14, Dale, 9, Clarence, 7, Charlotte, 3. Short services were held at the home at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday by Rev. E.H. Givens of Pittsburg, after which the remains were taken to Walnut where Rev. Rusk of the Methodist church held services for the friends at that place and interment was made in the Walnut cemetery.
