She was born May 17, 1927 in Coward, SC, the second child of Lemuel Clinton Lee and Zula Allene Carraway Lee. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 58 ½ years, Rev. Jimmie W. She is survived by her four children: Jimmy Wayne Brown (Deborah) of Huntsville, AL; Linda Faye Brown Kirby (Gerald) of Timmonsville, SC; Richard Warren Brown (Christy) of Nashville, TN; and Janice Elaine Brown Scott (David) of Charlotte, NC; 11 grandchildren: Christopher Brown (Amy); Matthew Brown (Donna); Amanda Brown; Darla Kirby Sutton (Benjamin); Lee Kirby (Crystal); Jason Kirby (Andrea); Robert Kirby; Adam Brown; Amy Brown; Jessica Scott Moore (David) and Jeremy Scott (Becky); 12 great-grandchildren: Madeline and Clayton Brown; Abigail and Lillian Brown; Kaylee and Levi Kirby; Brittany, Tyler, Carson, William and Ashleigh Moore; and Josiah Scott; one sister-in-law, Margie P. Lee of Coward and one brother-in-law, Dr. Robert E. Picirilli of Nashville; 7 nieces and 1 nephew. She was a 1944 graduate of J.C. Lynch High School and entered Cosmetology School in Columbia, SC in 1945. The family moved to Nashville, TN in 1956 where she took some classes at Free Will Baptist Bible College. Her husband pastored 3 churches in Alabama and later they became houseparents at the Free Will Baptist Home for Children in Greeneville, TN and again at the Virginia Baptist Children's Home in Salem, VA. In 1971 they returned to Nashville, TN and she began her nurse's training in 1972, working at Baptist Hospital until she retired in 1992. From the Fall of 1993 until May 2001 she was the Campus Nurse at Free Will Baptist Bible College. She purchased a home and moved back to SC in April 2011. She was a former member of Cofer's Chapel Free Will Baptist Church in Nashville and was currently a member of Sand Hill Free Will Baptist Church in Coward where she faithfully attended. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 30 from 6-8 PM at Carolina Funeral Home in Scranton. The funeral will be Wednesday, July 31 at 11:00 AM at Sand Hill Free Will Baptist Church in Coward with graveside service at Elmore Cemetery in New Hope. In the absence of her beloved Pastor and friend, Rev. Sherwood Lee, Dr. Robert Picirilli will be officiating.
