Description	:	Elroy A. Bartelt, 71, of Watertown, SD, passed away on Tuesday, July 23, 2013, at a care center in Clear Lake, SD. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, July 26, 2013, at Crawford Funeral Chapel in Watertown. Rev. Iver Possehl will officiate. Music will be provided by Sharon Falk as organist with Elroy's cousins. Visitation will be at the chapel on Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. and prior to services on Friday. Active pallbearers will be: Will Davis, Arri Zimiga, Mike Zirbel, Fred Zenk, Corwin Jones and Chris Bartelt. Elroy was born on December 26, 1941, at Webster, SD, to Alvin F. and Irma G. (Krause) Bartelt. He attended high school in Waubay, SD, and started farming in the Waubay area with his parents until 1969. Elroy moved to Watertown and worked for Minnesota Rubber. He then moved to Castlewood, SD, working as manager of the municipal liquor store, and eventually moved back to Watertown where he managed apartment buildings and worked at FGI (Terex) until his retirement. Elroy cared for his mother until her death in 2009. He has resided at Good Samaritan Nursing Center for the past 3 ½ years. He was a member of Mt. Olive Lutheran Church. Elroy enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing cards and watching Western movies. He also enjoyed visiting with people and spending time with family and friends. Elroy is survived by his sons: Kevin Bartelt (special friend, Maureen West) of Watertown, Tyler Richardt of Minneota, MN, and Dennis (Karen) Bartelt of Watertown; one grandson, Ryan; one brother, Howard Bartelt, of Waubay, SD; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
