Read More	Elsie Bohrofen, 101, passed away Sunday, February 12, 2017, at Kenny Brook in Grimes. Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, February 17, at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Grimes with burial to follow at Sunny Hill Cemetery there. Elsie was born to John and Marguerite (Knoll) Greif on May 20, 1915, in Dallas County. She graduated from Dallas Center High School in 1932. Elsie married Harold Peter Bohrofen on June 6, 1935, at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Grimes. She was baptized, confirmed and married in the original church and was the oldest life-time member of the church. She and Harold farmed what is now the Bohrofen Century Farm. They also owned and operated Bohrofen Implement in Grimes for over 50 years. She was busy with children, growing a vegetable garden and canning meats and vegetables. Elsie carried in water, burned corn cobs for fuel, carried out ashes, sold eggs for grocery money and made all the clothing for her daughters. Her hands were always busy quilting and knitting. Elsie was loved by all who knew her for her kindness and sweet personality They enjoyed 72 years together, traveling and spending winters in Texas and summers at their vacation home on Lake Panorama. Elsie is survived by daughters, Joann Noble of Grimes and Janice Corinne (Bob) Bashara of Omaha, NE; seven grandchildren, Rochelle (Victor Woods) Noble, Greg (Collette) Noble, Suzanne Hardy, Stacey (Ranald) Stearns, Peter (Andrea) Bashara and Matthew (Stephanie) Bashara; granddaughter-in-law Lisa Noble, ten great-grandchildren, B.J., Nick, Brian (Becca), Alex, Andrew, Hunter, Trevor, Alexander, Ella, Ainsley, Victoria, Ava, and Autumn; and one great-great-grandchild, Brindley, her siblings, Irma Bohrofen and Ed (Betty) Greif, both of Dallas Center; and her sister-in-law, Dorothy Greif of Grimes. She was preceded in death by her husband, her brothers, Charles and Gerald Greif, son-in-law, Daryl Noble and grandson, Steven Noble. The family will receive friends from 5 - 7 p.m. Thursday at St. Peter Lutheran Church. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Peter Lutheran Church in Grimes.
