Description	:	Elsie Gabel, 93, died Monday, Jan. 5, 2015. Elsie Elizabeth Glockhamer was born in Billings on Jan. 7, 1921. The first in her family to attend high school, she graduated in 1939 from Billings Senior High. She and Floyd H. Gabel were married in 1941. Mrs. Gabel traveled to air bases in Washington, New York and Kentucky to be with her husband while he taught radio classes in the Army Air Corp (now the United States Air Force) before he was stationed overseas during World War II. Mr. and Mrs. Gabel started a long... Read More	Elsie Gabel, 93, died Monday, Jan. 5, 2015. Elsie Elizabeth Glockhamer was born in Billings on Jan. 7, 1921. The first in her family to attend high school, she graduated in 1939 from Billings Senior High. She and Floyd H. Gabel were married in 1941. Mrs. Gabel traveled to air bases in Washington, New York and Kentucky to be with her husband while he taught radio classes in the Army Air Corp (now the United States Air Force) before he was stationed overseas during World War II. Mr. and Mrs. Gabel started a long and successful farming partnership in 1949. She often worked in the fields, whether it was hoeing beans, driving tractors or hauling sugar beets at harvest. Her hobbies included creating beautiful embroidery and crochet work. Mrs. Gabel always took great pride in her vegetable and flower gardens over the years. She was an avid reader, crossword puzzle solver and a competitive pinochle player. She loved the opportunity to engage in lively debate, on any subject. In earlier years, she was a P.T.A. president, Bible school teacher, and active in many church groups. She was a member of Faith Chapel. Elsie is survived by children, Gloria (Ron) Bowman, of Gold River, Calif., Floyd C. (Myra) Gabel, of Kinsey, and Everett (Pam) Gabel, of Billings; grandchildren, Kimberly (James) Sanderson, Floyd W. (Val) Gabel, and Gregory Gabel; one great-granddaughter, Dakota Lynn Gabel; and many nieces and nephews. Elsie was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Floyd; son, Leonard; and grandson, Eric. A Celebration of Life will be Friday, Jan. 9, 2015, at Faith Chapel, 517 Shiloh Rd. in Billings. The service will be at the Broadwater entrance. Interment will follow at Mountview Cemetery in Billings. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Faith Chapel or Rocky Mountain Hospice.--Miles City Star, Jan. 7, 2015
