Description	:	SOUTH BURLINGTON - Elsie Jean Foley (née Weir), 90, of South Burlington, Vermont, formerly of Londonderry, Vermont, chose to join her late husband, Dick Foley, in heaven, rather than fight off severe pneumonia. She joined him on Friday, Dec. 8, 2017, quietly and peacefully in her sleep at UVM Medical Center. Read More	SOUTH BURLINGTON - Elsie Jean Foley (née Weir), 90, of South Burlington, Vermont, formerly of Londonderry, Vermont, chose to join her late husband, Dick Foley, in heaven, rather than fight off severe pneumonia. She joined him on Friday, Dec. 8, 2017, quietly and peacefully in her sleep at UVM Medical Center. Jean was born on Christmas Day in 1926 to Charles and Lexie (née Carr) Weir in Foxboro, Massachusetts, the oldest of six children. To those who knew her, she was indeed a gift! She grew up in Foxboro, attended nursing school in Providence, Rhode Island, and married her sweetheart, Richard "Dick" Foley, on Aug. 27, 1949. She was predeceased by her sister, Madeline Wooley, and brother, James Weir; and is survived by brothers Walter, Albert and Paul Weir. Jean enjoyed a long career as an RN, taking care of her patients on the overnight shift. She was passionate about helping others. Jean was active in her community as a nurse, actress and den mother, as well as a member of the Mother's Club and PTA. She volunteered for the school breakfast program, Meals on Wheels, her church community and so much more. Jean was a free spirit and had a profound, positive effect on everyone she came in contact with. She loved to cook, though she always said she could live on sandwiches! She quilted, crocheted and entertained as often as she could! Jean was married to Dick Foley for 66 years. They had five children Michael, of Cumming, Georgia, Jake, of Bradford, Vermont, Tim, of Burlington, Vermont, Rick, of Brookfield, Vermont, and Jennifer, of Williston, Vermont. She and Dick enjoyed their 15 "grandies" and 11 great-grandies! There will be no calling hours. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. John Vianney Catholic Church on Hinesburg Road in South Burlington. A memorial service will be held immediately following at the Pines Senior Housing Community at 7 Aspen Drive, South Burlington. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery in Londonderry, Vermont.
