Born July 3rd, 1919 in Hampton County she was the daughter of the late Nicholas Hamilton Mixson and Ida Freeman Mixson. Mrs. Causey graduated from Columbia College in 1940, was a homemaker, and later taught in the Estill public schools for more than 20 years. She was Vice Chairperson and Treasurer of the Coastal Empire Community Mental Health Board for 15 years and a member of the Hampton County Literacy Association. Mrs. Causey... Read More	Elsie Causey ESTILL, SC - Mrs. Elsie Lavinia Mixson Causey of Estill, SC, widow of Mr. Will Causey, died Monday July 30th, 2012 in New Bern, NC. Born July 3rd, 1919 in Hampton County she was the daughter of the late Nicholas Hamilton Mixson and Ida Freeman Mixson. Mrs. Causey graduated from Columbia College in 1940, was a homemaker, and later taught in the Estill public schools for more than 20 years. She was Vice Chairperson and Treasurer of the Coastal Empire Community Mental Health Board for 15 years and a member of the Hampton County Literacy Association. Mrs. Causey was a member of Lawtonville Baptist Church in Estill where she taught Sunday school, and was active with the W.M.U. and GA's. Survivors include one son: Nicky Causey and wife Sally of Charleston, SC, two daughters: Sally Johnson and husband Andy and Lisa Jackson and husband Jim both of New Bern, NC, one sister, Edith M. Long of Hampton and a daughter-in-law Edie Causey of Beaufort, SC. There are six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by one son, W. Jackson Causey and an infant son. Funeral services will be held Thursday August 2nd, 2012 at 2 p.m. in the Lawtonville Baptist Church in Estill, SC, directed by Peeples-Rhoden Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Sand Hill Cemetery near Varnville, SC. Friends may call at the church beginning at 1 p.m. prior to the service. Memorials in her honor may be directed to Lawtonville Baptist Church, PO Box 1057, Estill, SC 29918 or Sand Hill Cemetery Association, 111 Mary St., Hampton, SC 29924.
