Jark, 95 years of age, of San Jose, CA. formerly of Beatrice, NE. passed away on Sunday, March 31, 2002 in San Jose. She was born on July 2, 1906 near Harbine, NE. She was a graduate of Plymouth High School in Plymouth, NE. and the Lutheran Hospital Nurses Training School in Beatrice. She was employed as a nurse receptionist in the Beatrice office of Dr. Daniel McCleery until he died in 1970. She was a member of the Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Los Gatos, CA., and a former member of the St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Beatrice, and was active in various women's groups at the church. She enjoyed working at the Bloodmobile in Beatrice, reading, playing bridge and growing flowers. Survivors include her sons, James P. Staehs and his wife Dorthy of San Jose, CA. and Joel L. Staehs and his wife Alyce of DeSoto, TX.; step-son William Jark and his wife Linda of Chandler, AR., 13 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Augusta (Knispel) Koenig, first husband Paul Staehs and second husband Herbert P. Jark, daughter Janet Turk, step-daughter Judith Utley, 1 brother and 2 sisters. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 A.M. Thursday, April 11, 2002 in the Griffiths-Hovendick Chapel in Beatrice with Reverend Douglas Irmer officiating. Private inurnment of ashes will be in the Evergreen Home Cemetery in Beatrice. A register book will be available at the Griffiths-Hovendick Chapel in Beatrice each day from 9:00 A.M. - 5:00 P.M. A memorial has been established to the St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Beatrice with the Griffiths-Hovendick Chapel in Beatrice, 708 N. 6th Street, Beatrice, NE. 68310 in charge. Messages of condolence may be sent to [email protected] and will be forwarded to the family. The Griffiths-Hovendick Chapel in Beatrice is in charge of services.
