Mrs. Boeff was born on Dec. 5, 1927 to Fredrick 0.and Reka (Danielsen) Jernberg in New Raymer. The family moved to New Llano, La. on Nov. 11, 1928 to a Socialist colony. She was in the 4th grade band and learned to play the violin. She moved to Byers in 1942 and then to Haxtun in 1943, where she sang in the school choir. The family moved to Sterling in 1945, where she continued her education, graduating from Sterling High School. While in school she wrote for the Bengal Cry school paper.She worked at Ray's Texaco Station in 1946.Then she worked at Cudahay's, plucking chickens and candling eggs. On Feb. 13, 1949 she married Erwin P. Boeff in Denver. Elsie and her husband devoted their lives to the ministry. She was one of the founding members of the Jehovah's Witnesses in Sterling in the 1950s. She was a member of the Christ United Methodist Church the last 10 years. She enjoyed singing and was an active member of the church choir for the last eight years. She also enjoyed playing the piano, organ and violin for weddings, funerals and religious gatherings.She raised two children and worked as a homemaker and a licensed daycare provider from 1977 until 1988. She lived at Sterling Living Center from August 2000 until her death. Mrs. Boeff is survived by a daughter, Barbara Boeff and fiancé Dean Schuman of Sterling; a son, Dean Boeff and wife Marie of Sterling; a granddaughter, Destiny of Sterling; a sister, Ellen Jernberg of Sterling; and a brother, Elmer Jernberg and wife Ramona of Yuma. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Erwin Boeff in 1974; and a sister, Ruth Bower. Memorial contributions may be made to the Elsie Boeff Memorial Fund.
