AL ASSMAN, 43 Elsie Marie Assman, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Nick Finken, was born at Earling, Iowa, November 19, 1914 and died at Jefferson, Iowa, December 18, 1957, at the age of 43 years and 29 days. She was one of a family of ten children. She attended school at Earling where she graduated. She was united in marriage to Al J. Assman, April 14, 1936, at St. Joseph's church at Earling. AL ASSMAN, 43 Elsie Marie Assman, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Nick Finken, was born at Earling, Iowa, November 19, 1914 and died at Jefferson, Iowa, December 18, 1957, at the age of 43 years and 29 days. She was one of a family of ten children. She attended school at Earling where she graduated. She was united in marriage to Al J. Assman, April 14, 1936, at St. Joseph's church at Earling. To this union four children were born, Ronnie, Tommy, Larrie and Rita Ann. The Assman's established their home, first at Earling for two years, and then went to Greene County to live near Jefferson in 1938 and have lived there since. Mrs. Assman was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church at Jefferson and the Catholic Daughters of America. She is survived by her husband, and four children all at home, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Nick Finken, and two sisters and seven brothers: Mrs. Sylvin (Elvira) Miller of Earling, Mrs. William (Mildred) Matteke of Los Angeles, California, Lawrence of Panama. Walter, Victor and Raymond all of Earling and Marcus "Mark", Albert and Francis "Frank" all of Los Angeles, California. A Requiem High Mass for Mrs. Assman, was offered at St. Joseph's Catholic Church at Jefferson, December 20, 1957 and at St. Joseph's Catholic Church at Earling, December 21, 1957. Celebrants were the Rev. Fr. J.P. McGuire, pastor of St. Joseph's at Jefferson and the Rt. Rev. Msgr. Peter A. Bissen of Earling. Burial was in St. Joseph's cemetery at Earling, December 21, 1957. Pallbearers were Russell Dunivan, Pete Garrity, Leo Miller, Rudy Walters, Glen Miller and Earl Day. From The Harlan Tribune (Harlan, Iowa) – Friday 17 Jan 1958
