Elsie, departed this life and entered The Eternal Home on, December 29, 2009 at Holdrege, Nebraska at the age of 92 years. After Elsie graduated from high school in Ellsworth, Wisconsin her parents moved to St. Paul, Minnesota. After completing business school, she was employed for several years at a nation-wide clothing distributorship. She accepted a Civil Service appointment in May 1941, to Washington, D.C., where she was employed at the War Department for several years. On May 24, 1943, she married Marlin Jones at the Chapel at Fort Lincoln, in Fredericks County, Maryland. When Marlin was assigned to Naval duty in Stockholm Sweden, in 1944, Elsie moved to St Paul, Minnesota, living there until Marlin's return in December of 1945. The Joneses moved to Holdrege, Nebraska in April of 1947, where Marlin operated Peterson-Jones Insurance Agency until September 2002, when he retired. Elsie served as bookkeeper/secretary in the business until failing health forced her retirement. She was a long-time member of Trinity Evangelical Free Church of Holdrege, Nebraska, where she taught a Sunday School class of three and four-year olds for fifty-plus years. During these years she also served as treasurer of the Women's Missionary Society, and was active in serving various social gatherings at the church. Elsie was an excellent cook, with pastries being her forte. She particularly enjoyed entertaining her grandchildren. Her family was proud of her academic accomplishments and athletic ability. She was an avid golfer in her earlier years. Elsie is survived by: her husband, Marlin Jones of Holdrege, Nebraska; children: Karen Crocker and her husband, Ron of Kearney, Nebraska; the Reverend Gary Jones and his wife Cynthia, of Monticello, Minnesota, and Lynn Jones, of Lincoln, Nebraska; sister, Dr. Anne Peterson recently moved to Holdrege, Nebraska to assist with her care. Elsie was welcomed into The Heavenly Home by: her parents, Arthur and Marie Peterson; brother Clarence Peterson and his wife Natalia; brother, Orville Peterson and his wife Betty; sisters Ruth Hickey and her husband John; and Elenore Williams and her husband John.
