Mrs. Ray Ralston Died After a Brave Struggle Lasting More Than a Week Death is Victor Her Case Provoked the Sympathy of All. Funeral Largely Attended After a brave struggle lasting more than a week following the birth of her son, and days after the physicians decided that she could not live, Mrs. Ray Ralston passed away Saturday evening at 6:30, universally mourned by all who knew her. The peculiar nature of her illness, embolism of the pulmonary circulation; her hopeful courageous fight to get well, combined with other sad circumstances connected with her death made her case one in which the community took unusual interest and friends sympathies were touching to their depths. Funeral Services were held from the Alice Church Tuesday afternoon at 2:30, conducted by Rev. E. E. Heltribridle, who paid a splendid tribute to the life of the deceased. The Church could not hold the friends who came to pay their respects to her memory; many were compelled to stand outside during the services. The casket was covered with beautiful floral tributes from friends, church societies and relatives. The singing was by the choir of the church. The pallbearers were: Clyde Wilhelm, John Price, Earl Wiley, John Stewart, F. D. Klinefelter and Mac Hughes. Interment was made in the Alice Cemetery. Elsie May Harris was born in Grundy County, Iowa, June 15th 1877, being aged 36 years, 10 months and 3 days. In February 1903 she was united in marriage to Ray B. Ralston. To this union was born four children: Elon D. born July 22, 1904; Lucile M. born Sept 8, 1905; Carl W. born April 24 1907 who died in infancy and the infant born April 9th 1914. (James B Ralston). She is survived by her husband, three children, mother and three brothers, George, Harry and Herbert Harris, all residents of this community. Mrs. Ralston was a faithful Christian. She was converted in Alice during the winter of 1808 at a Revival held by Rev. J. C. Kepford, and has since exemplified in her everyday life the Christian graces that made her not only a true follower of the Master but such a faithful wife, loving mother and helpful friend. During the days of her trying illness and when she felt the nearness of death, her resignation and trust in her Savior's will was a comfort and a benediction to those about her. The sympathy of the entire community goes out to the bereaved husband, children and near relatives. Those who attended the funeral from abroad were: Mr. and Mrs. Dell and Henry Barnes, of Cedar Falls; Mrs. Nettie Fickles of Mr. Carroll, Ill.; Mrs. Lizzie Bowers of Lanark, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. Wm Whennell of Gladbrook; John Whennell of Traer; Orrin Ralston and Mr. and Mrs. Bert Robbins, Iowa Falls; Mr. and Mrs. David Young of Gladbrook; Miss Belle Grant, Wayland; Mr. Ben Grant and Miss Leona Barnes of Marshalltown; and Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Arford, Toledo; and a host of friends from neighboring towns.
