Obituary Elsie May (Monninger) Rohrer, 91, died Friday morning at the Abilene Memorial Hospital. She was born Aug. 6, 1889 in the Elmo community, the daughter of Jacob and Mary (Cooley) Monninger. Obituary Elsie May (Monninger) Rohrer, 91, died Friday morning at the Abilene Memorial Hospital. She was born Aug. 6, 1889 in the Elmo community, the daughter of Jacob and Mary (Cooley) Monninger. She was a graduate of Champan High School with the Class of 1909. She taught in the Pleasant Hill and New Liberty rural schools. On Oct. 18, 1911, she married Edward E. Rohrer. The early years of their marriage were spent farming in the Elmo community. In 1927 they purchased the Elmo Mercantile which they operated until 1963. Mr. Rohrer preceded her in death on May 28, 1963. She made her home in Abilene until entering the Brown Memorial Home in 1975. She was a member of the New Basel United Church of Christ. She is survived by one brother, Roy Monninger, California; several nieces, nephews and cousins. The funeral will be at 10:30 A.M. Monday at the New Basel United Church of Christ with the Rev. Bruce Gledhill officiating. Interment will be in the New Basel Cemetery.
