Horn, 69, farmer residing several miles south of Broken Bow in the Buckeye community, passed away at his home early Sunday morning from injuries received about noon Friday of last week when the tractor he was operating went over a 20 foot embankment. Horn, 69, farmer residing several miles south of Broken Bow in the Buckeye community, passed away at his home early Sunday morning from injuries received about noon Friday of last week when the tractor he was operating went over a 20 foot embankment. Mr. Horn had been a resident of the county since 1939. Just what caused the tragic accident is not known. Will Horn, a nephew, was listing corn in the same field but apparently did not see the accident occur. He found his uncle at the bottom of the embankment, badly injured, when he went to investigate. Elzy Floyd Horn was born April 15, 1874, at Peru, Nebraska. On September 20, 1896, he was united in marriage to Miss Laura Sapp. They made their home in the eastern part of the state until 1939 when they moved to this part of Nebraska. They resided on a farm a few miles southwest of Anselmo until moving to the farm south of Broken Bow this spring. Four children were born to this union: Gertrude Mae, Elzy Everett, Gladys Viola who passed away in 1917, and Edgar Charles who died in infancy. Mr. Horn spent his entire life in farming. In 1901, he united with the Christian Church at Brock, Nebraska, and for the past 50 years he was a member of the Masonic Lodge at Brock. Surviving, besides his wife, are his two children, Mrs. Gertrude Mae French of Hastings and Elzy Everett, who is in the service and located in Alaska; one granddaughter, Mrs. Vilola Savidge of Los Angeles, California; four brothers, Charles of Lexington, U. S. Horn and Richard Horn of Eddyville and Milt of Broken Bow. Funeral services were conducted at the Schneringer & Johnson Funeral Home on Tuesday afternoon, the Rev. Lester Guldner, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church, officiating. Two numbers were sung by Mrs. Orin Talbot and Mrs. Carl Burdick with Mrs. Seldon Wenquist at the organ.
