The funeral service began at 2:30 pm with Rev. James Keuch officiating. Arylss Reutter was organist and accompanied by the congregation in singing "Asleep in Jesus" and "What a Friend we have in Jesus." Heidi Peters and Scott Buxcel sang "How Great Thou Art." Eltor Buxcel was born March 13, 1910 in Hutchinson County near Olivet, SD. He was a son of Theodore and Christina (Frank) Buxcel. As a child he moved with his parents to a farm in Mellette County near Stamford. He grew up there and attended Big White rural school. Eltor worked for various farmers in the area, including his future brother-in-law, Philip Eckert. He married Tillie Eckert on March 28, 1937 at St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church. They owned and operated a ranch in northwest Jones county all their married life. Eltor was confirmed in Friedens Lutheran Church of Stamford, SD. He was a member of St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church where he served as Elder for many years and was a member of the Lutheran Laymen's League. He served on the regional draft board for many years and was on the board of directors of the Midland Co-operative Marketing Association. He also served as township supervisor for many years. Among his hobbies were hunting and fishing and all types of sports of which baseball was his favorite.
