She had suffered a stroke last fall, but was not confined to her bed until two or three days ago when she became suddenly worse. She was 76 years old. Read More	The Daily Sentinel - Grand Junction, CO Saturday - 11 April 1936 Page 2 - Column 6 Pioneer Olathe Resident Dies Friday At Home Mrs. Elmer Young, Mother of The Late Mrs. Stevens, Was Prominent Citizen Mrs. Elmer Young, pioneer Olathe woman who for many years has been one of the town's most active and prominent citizens, passed away late yesterday afternoon at her home in West Olathe. She had suffered a stroke last fall, but was not confined to her bed until two or three days ago when she became suddenly worse. She was 76 years old. Mrs. Young was the mother of Mrs. Harold Stevens of Grand Junction, who with her husband was killed on May 26, 1933, in a tragic airplane accident. The Stevens, well known in Grand Junction, were returning from Denver in a plane piloted by Dr. DeWar, also of this city. Mr. and Mrs. DeWar and Stevens all perished when the plane crashed during a storm. Another daughter of Mrs. Young, Bernice, wife of Earl Duncan of Olathe, died six years ago and a son died in infancy. Mrs. Young's husband survives her. Mrs. Young was a tireless worker in the Olathe Methodist church and was a charter member of the W. C. T. U. of Olathe. She was active in many community affairs and had gained the admiration of scores of friends for her cheerful disposition despite the loss of her children. For many years before her marriage in Michigan, she was a school teacher in Montrose county. She had resided in Olathe for nearly 40 years. Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock in the Methodist church at Olathe and burial will be in the Olathe cemetery. -END-
