He was 27 years old, born in Jan 1873 in Illinois. His Father was born in Ohio as was his Mother. He was married to Elva Kirk in 1895. He was a merchant. There was one child, Earl Edgecomb age 4. Elva G. was born in Iowa in October 1876. Both Her father and Mother were born in Iowa. She had given birth to two children with only 1 living. Earl Edgecomb was born in Kansas in October 1895. He was four years old. Source Citation: Year: 1900; Census Place: Sheridan, Cherokee, Kansas; Roll: T623 474; Page: 10B; *** Columbus Weekly Advocate, Columbus, KS, 15 Aug 1901, Thu, page 12 "Died–At her home in Sherman on Wednesday, Aug 7, 1901, Mrs. Elva Edgecomb, age 24 years, 10 months and 4 days. Although Mrs. Edgecomb had been in our little city only two years, yet she had made many lasting friends. Her smiling face and jolly ways were known and appreciated by young and old. She was married to Chas. Edgecomb Jan 1, 1895. To them were born three children, two of whom are still living, little Hazel having died July 22, 1899. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Pickering, at the school house, on Thursday at 11 o'clock, after which the remains were interred in the Star cemetery by the side of little Hazel, of whom she so often spoke. To the husband, mother and father, brothers and sisters, we tender our deepest sympathy. In this, their hour of sadness, may they be comforted by Him who alone can bind up the broken heart and wipe away all tears.
