Read More	Elvera Emma (Griner) Henning, age 83, of Clarksville, Iowa, was born the daughter of Ernest and Emma Lynn Griner July 1, 1917, in Butler County, Iowa, near Dumont. The family lived near Dumont, and she graduated from Dumont High School. Elvera married George on Henning December 13, 1936 in her parent's home near Dumont, Iowa. The couple farmed in Butler and Bremer Counties and in 1948, bought their farm west of Clarksville. In 1963, they moved about a half-mile north to a second farm and lived there until they moved to town in 1991. March 26, 1997, Elvera became a resident of Shell Rock Care Center and on October 1, 1997, she moved to Country View Care Facility in Waterloo. She was a member of Immanuel United Church of Christ in Clarksville where she was a member of the Women's Fellowship, having served as the group's President. Elvera enjoyed gardening, cooking and baking. She especially loved visits from her family and grandkids and would often make them homemade cinnamon rolls and other goodies. She also enjoyed travelling to Arizona and Colorado with her family and attending the Cattle Congress in Waterloo. At 4:25 a.m., Wednesday, June 13, 2001, Elvera passed away at Country View Care Facility, Waterloo, Iowa, of natural causes. She was preceded in death by her great-grandson, Michael Darrah, a step-great-grandson, John Darrah, her parents and a brother, Wilford Griner. Elvera is survived by her husband, George Henning, of Country View Care Facility, Waterloo, Iowa; two daughters, Ruth Busching and her husband, William of Waverly, Iowa and Frances Dempsey and her husband, Ron, of Norwalk, Iowa; one sister, Mae Miller of Dunkerton, Iowa; one brother, Ernest Griner, Jr. and his wife, Miriam of Dumont, Iowa; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one step-great-grandson. Funeral Services were held on Monday, June 18 at Schwartz Funeral Home in Clarksville with Rev. Rueben Topp officiating. Soloist Cindy Haack sang "In The Garden" and "In This Very Room." Special Music was "How Great Thou Art." Casketbearers were grandchildren and Spouses: Susan and Steve Darrah; Janelle and Dan Lahr; Denise and Pat McCurnin and Rod and Karen Dempsey.
