Description	:	Elvera Marie (Herr) Young, 85, a longtime East Wenatchee resident, passed away Wednesday night, March 8, 2000 at Highline Convalescent Center in East Wenatchee. She was born on Aug. 17, 1914 in Portland, OR to John and Angeline (Welveart) White. She was married to Walter Herr on Feb. 9, 1931 at Stevenson. They moved to Malaga in 1937. They later moved to Wenatchee before making their home in East Wenatchee. She had worked in the laundry business most of her life and for Crystal Linen in Wenatchee until retiring in 1976. Read More	Elvera Marie (Herr) Young, 85, a longtime East Wenatchee resident, passed away Wednesday night, March 8, 2000 at Highline Convalescent Center in East Wenatchee. She was born on Aug. 17, 1914 in Portland, OR to John and Angeline (Welveart) White. She was married to Walter Herr on Feb. 9, 1931 at Stevenson. They moved to Malaga in 1937. They later moved to Wenatchee before making their home in East Wenatchee. She had worked in the laundry business most of her life and for Crystal Linen in Wenatchee until retiring in 1976. Following her retirement, she had worked a couple of years packing fruit. On June 26, 1983, she was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Herr, Sr., and on April 21, 1990 she was married to Carl W. Young in East Wenatchee. They made their home in Cashmere before moving to East Wenatchee in 1995. Elvera was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in East Wenatchee. She enjoyed sewing and was an avid gardener. She is survived by her husband, Carl W. Young, Wenatchee; one daughter, Lillian M. Whiteley, San Andreas, CA; stepdaughters, Linda Hart, Cashmere and Carol Young, Portland, OR; stepson, Arnold Young, Indian Springs, NV; two sisters, Margaret Reece, Hillsboro, OR and Irma Taghon, Cornelias, OR; three grandchildren, Pam Rousey, San Andreas, CA, Ron Whiteley, South Lake Tahoe, CA and Steve Whiteley, Redwood City, CA; six step-grandchildren; one great-grandson; numerous step-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews in Oregon. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Walter Herr and one son, Walter G. Herr, Jr. Commemoration services will be held on Monday morning, March 13, 2000 at 10 a.m. at Bethel Baptist Church in East Wenatchee with the Rev. John Sterk officiating. Concluding services and the interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park. Visitation will be on Saturday from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. and Sunday from 1:30 until 4:30 p.m. Friends who wish may make memorial donations in her name to the American Diabetes Association. Arrangements are by Telford's Chapel of the Valley, East Wenatchee.
