Description	:	Elvira Schulz, 92, of Le Mars, Iowa passed away Sunday, May 6, 2007 at Brentwood Good Samaritan Village in Le Mars, Iowa. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 9, 2007 at St. John's Lutheran Church, E.L.C.A. with Reverend Gary Landsness officiating. Interment will be in St. John Lutheran Cemetery, Craig, Iowa. Visitations will be after 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 8, 2007 at the Carlsen Funeral Home in Le Mars with the family present after 6:00 p.m. to greet friends followed by a 7:00 p.m. Prayer Service all at the funeral home. Interment will be in St. John Lutheran Cemetery, Craig, Iowa. Elvira Lois Nettie Utesch was born April 12, 1915 at Yankton, South Dakota to William and Bertha (Gardner) Utesch. Elvira was baptized at St. John's Lutheran Church in Le Mars. She began her education at a country school in Washington Township and graduated from Merrill High School in 1933. Elvira was united in marriage to Ivan Schulz on December 2, 1933 at Ottumwa, Iowa. Elvira and Ivan lived in Craig where she worked at a grocery store. They later moved to Remsen and then to Le Mars. Elvira had worked for 5 years with the Selective Service Board. She enjoyed volunteering at church to help out wherever needed. She was also a member of the W.E.L.C.A. and participated in the Rachel Circle for many years. Elvira enjoyed making afghans, crocheting, quilting and reading. Elvira has made her home at Brentwood Good Samaritan Village since August of 2004. Survivors include her daughter, Sheryl Oetken and her husband Warren of Merrill, Iowa; a daughter-in-law, Hyon Sik Schulz of Buford, Georgia; 6 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren: Jeff Oetken and his wife Mickey of Plattsmouth, Nebraska and their daughter Whitney, Lori Oetken of Sioux City and her son Logan, Stacie Schultz and her husband Lance of Lake City, Iowa and their children Sydnie and Madison, Kelli Wilson and her husband Will of Dakota Dunes, South Dakota and their children Parker and Preston, Denise Schulz of Hickory, North Carolina and Deborah Schulz of Buford, Georgia; a brother, Ronald Utesch of Le Mars; and several nieces and nephews. Elvira was preceded in death by her parents, William and Bertha (Gardner) Utesch; husband Ivan who passed away on January 23, 1996; her son, Gary who passed away on May 16, 2001; 4 brothers, Everett, Art, Arnold, and Donald Utesch; and a sister, Leila Kruse.
