Description	:	Elvira S Butler was born in St Lawrence county, NY, Feb. 6th, 1844; died of appendicitis at Marquette Aug. 10th, 1896. She embraced religion at the age of 14 and united with the M E church, since which time she has lived a consistent christian life. At the time of her death she was a member of the Marquette U B church and has to the time of her late illness been a most active worker in the church, Sunday school and charitable circles. Read More	Elvira S Butler was born in St Lawrence county, NY, Feb. 6th, 1844; died of appendicitis at Marquette Aug. 10th, 1896. She embraced religion at the age of 14 and united with the M E church, since which time she has lived a consistent christian life. At the time of her death she was a member of the Marquette U B church and has to the time of her late illness been a most active worker in the church, Sunday school and charitable circles. During her last illness she often expressed the beliefe that she would not recover but said she was ready for the summons hence. Only about 24 hours before her death she told her pastor, "It's all right." Her funeral took place at Marquette U B church, interment at Richland cemetery and a large concourse of people was present. Rev C H Polhemus preached from Rev 21:5. Deceased was married to Jos. Randall in June, 1862, and to them was born Mina J now Mrs H D Hall, of Marquette. Mr Randall died in the service of his country at Memphis, Tenn., July 23d, 1863. In March 1865 she was married to Elias Farr who survives her. Three children were born to them: Geo. W of Marquette, Mrs Hickman of Lake Charles, La., and Beulah J., who died at 15 months of age. She was one of the family of 8 children, 4 of whom still live, but only one, J L Butler of Lawrence, Kans., was able to reach her bedside before her death.
