Funeral services for Bus Bush were held at 10:30 AM, Thursday, October 24, 2002, at the Nevenhoven Funeral Home, Brooklyn. Rev. David Rogula, Pastor of Grace United Methodist Church, officiated and as musician. Special selections were "Amazing Grace" and "How Great Thou Art." Marilyn Kriegel was organist. Funeral services for Bus Bush were held at 10:30 AM, Thursday, October 24, 2002, at the Nevenhoven Funeral Home, Brooklyn. Rev. Interment was in Brooklyn Memorial Cemetery with military rites conducted by members of Brooklyn and Malcom American Legion Posts. A memorial fund had been established. Elwin "Bus" Mason Bush was born November 14, 1910 in Stuttgart, Arkansas. His parents were Ira Eugene Bush and Alice May Newton Bush. He and his family moved to Brooklyn in 1912. He received his education in Brooklyn graduating from high school in 1929. Mr. Bush was a welder and blacksmith. He started working with his father and continued operating Bush Welding Shop in Brooklyn. He served with the US Army during World War II. In 1948 in Brooklyn Bus was married to Rosa Hobelsberger who he met in Germany during the war. They were the parents of three children, Karl, Donna and Elwin E. Mrs. Bush died October 30, 1984. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church and Francis Gallagher American Legion Post #294. He served for 60 years on the Brooklyn Volunteer Fire Department. Bus enjoyed hunting, fishing and tinkering at his blacksmith shop. His parents, his wife, a brother Donald and a sister Harriett preceded him in death. Surviving are his children, Karl Bush and his wife Judy of Cedar Rapids, Donna Bush of Omaha, Nebraska, and Elwin E. Bush of Montezuma; a brother, Eugene Bush of Sacramento, California: and a sister Ardis Bush of Sacramento, California; and two grandsons, Mike Bush and David Bush.
