Description	:	Emeral Barnes was born January 10, 1910 near Winona, Mo., the youngest of 12 children and the son of William and Lura Copeland Barnes, and departed this life October 9, 1986 at Doctor's Hospital, Poplar Bluff, Mo., at the age of 76 years, 8 months and 29 days. Read More	Emeral Barnes was born January 10, 1910 near Winona, Mo., the youngest of 12 children and the son of William and Lura Copeland Barnes, and departed this life October 9, 1986 at Doctor's Hospital, Poplar Bluff, Mo., at the age of 76 years, 8 months and 29 days. Emeral spent most of his life in and around Winona. He loved the outdoors and spent most of his leisure time hunting and fishing. However, his most enjoyable times were the ones spent with his grandchildren. They were his "pride and joy". He was proud to be called their "pop or poppy". He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Shirley Katherine Burge, whom he married on September 20, 1943; two sons, William Arthur of Van Buren, Mo.; Jimmy Earl of Nixa, Mo.; three daughters, Mary Ellen Haney of Winona, Mo.; Jeanne Ray Burk of St. Joe, Ark.; and from his first marriage, Doris Lee Blair of Maryville, Tennessee; 16 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers, five sisters, three grandchildren, one great-grandchild and his first wife, Eileen Prewitt. Graveside services were held Saturday, October 11 at 4 pm at Mt. Zion Cemetery, Winona, Mo. with James Eskey officiating. Services were under the direction of the Carter Funeral Home, Alton, MO. Emeral dedicated his soul to God on September 1, 1986 at his home in Winona. Our loss is Heaven's gain. Though our days are emptier, memories are something time cannot erase. We will always hold our "pop" dear to our hearts.
