Description	:	Highland Recorder November 12, 1943 EMERY JOSEPH CRUMMETT Emery Joseph Crummett, well known farmer of Mill Gap community, passed away Wednesday afternoon, November 3, 1943. He was born near Hightown, Va., October 3, 1883, the youngest son of the late Josiah Crummett and Susanne Sheffer Crummett. The family moved to the Valley Center neighborhood while Emery was a boy. He was married September 27, 1917 to Lelia Belle Doyle, and They lived for a number of years in the old home, caring for his mother through her last years. Read More	Highland Recorder November 12, 1943 EMERY JOSEPH CRUMMETT Emery Joseph Crummett, well known farmer of Mill Gap community, passed away Wednesday afternoon, November 3, 1943. He was born near Hightown, Va., October 3, 1883, the youngest son of the late Josiah Crummett and Susanne Sheffer Crummett. The family moved to the Valley Center neighborhood while Emery was a boy. He was married September 27, 1917 to Lelia Belle Doyle, and They lived for a number of years in the old home, caring for his mother through her last years. Later he bought the farm near Mill Gap and built on it a new house. He was confirmed in the Lutheran Church April 20, 1901 by Rev. S. H. Puffenbarger. Among his strongest characteristics were love of home, and love of music. He was blessed with an exceptionally fine voice with an unusually wide tone range, and he loved nothing better than taking part in church and community singing. Surviving him are his wife, Lelia Doyle Crummett, one daughter, Bernice, two sisters, Mrs. Jane White and Mrs. Gertrude Souder and one brother, Paul P. Crummett. Two brothers, William. A. and George R., and two sisters, Mrs. Sarah Smith and Mrs. Lizzie Puffenbarger have gone before. Funeral services were conducted from Beulah Church Friday, Nov. 5, eleven o’clock by Rev. L.M. Moffett assisted by Rev. S.K. Kulman and Rev. A.W. Wood. The active pall bearers were nephews. Many beautiful floral sprays and designs attested to the love and esteem in which Mr. Crummett was held. He was laid to rest in Green Hill cemetery.
