His funeral will be at 11 a.m. at St. Mark's Church in Belt. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery near Belt. Born in 1910 in Belt, he attended school in Raynesford and Belt. He worked on road construction for Peter Kiewit and Buck Helan during the 1920s and 1930s. He enlisted in the Navy in 1942 and served on the ammunition ship USS Pyro during World War II. After the war he returned to Raynesford to resume ranching with his father. He married JoAnne Pings in 1954 and they made their home on the ranch north of Raynesford. Evans was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4198,and the National Farm Organization. He coached and was active in baseball, basketball and Little League and softball programs. Survivors include his wife; sons, Daniel and Matthew, both of Raynesford, and Timothy of Havre; a daughter, Rita, of Fromberg; a brother, Nicholas of Rapid City, S. D.; a sister, Mary Rutherford of Lewsistown; and one grandson. Brothers, Michael and George, and a sister, Veronica, preceded him in death.
