Read More	h/o Vera M. parents of Wanda, Cindy, Martin & Mark Emil Ortgies Funeral services for Emil Ortgies were held at 10:30 Monday morning, Sept. 14, 1987 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Anamosa. Burial was in the Riverside Cemetery Rev Jane Hagstrom and Rev. Jeffrey Nelson officiated at the service. Emil Ortgies, 54, of Anamosa died Thursday morning, Sept. 10 from injuries received in a tractor accident. Emil Ortgies was bom Feb. 11, 1933 at Iowa City, the son of Carl and Caroline Antons Ortgies. He received his education in the Anamosa schools where he graduated in 1951. He later was a construction worker Emil and Vera Carpenter were married June 5,1952 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church. The couple made their home in the Anamosa area and Emil worked at Collins Radio. He retired from Collins in 1976 and then worked a year at Turner Microphone before he started farming full time. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, and Farm Bureau. Emil is survived by his wife, Vera; four children, Wanda Tuetken and Martin Ortgies, both of Anamosa; Cindy Anderson of Manchester, Mark Ortgies of Cedar Rapids; six grandchildren; his mother, Caroline Ortgies of Monticello, a brother Dennis Ortgies of Monticello; two sisters, Carleen Sievertsen of Anamosa and Carol Beckley of Dubuque. He was preceded in death by his father. Casketbearers were David Pillard, Lee Edwards, Dennis Larson, Lonnie Hinrichsen, Charles Fairbanks, Rudolph Ulferts.
