Description	:	The funeral for Emil Engstrom, 84, of rural Leeds was Fri. at 2 p.m. at the Leeds Lutheran Church.Interment was in the Leeds Lutheran Cemetery. He died Nov. 2, 1992 at Resthaven Healthcare Center in Cando. Rev. Margaret Olson officiated. Jeanette Kenner was organist & special music was furnished by Olead Fogelson & Ruth Schlieve. Pallbearers were grandsons Daniel Fogelson, Douglas Fogelson, David Fogelson, Jay Gould & Joshua Haagenson. The Nelson funeral Home of Leeds was in charge of arrangements. Emil Leonard Engstrom was born Aug. 6, 1908 in Leeds Township of Benson County, the son of Frank & Jensine Batalden Engstrom. He was educated at the Leeds Elementary School & graduated from BCATS at Maddock. He attended NDSU at Fargo. On June 20, 1941 he married Elaine Schurr in Fargo. He farmed his grandparents' homestead near Leeds until retiring in 1982. He became a resident of Resthaven Healthcare Center in Cando in 1987. He served on the Leeds School Board & the Leeds Township Board. He was a member of the Leeds Lutheran Church & served on the church council. Survirors include his wife of Leeds; 4 daughters, Mrs. Dennis (Penny) Fogelson of Thief River Falls, Minn., Mrs. Curtis (Peggy) Jacobson of Madison, Wisc., Mrs. Michael (Pat) Gould of Sioux Falls, SD & Mrs. Leslie (Paula) Haagenson of Leeds; 7 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; & a sister, Katherine McFadyen of Houston, Tex. He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers & 6 sisters.
