Dreher children are: Ellen Marie Dreher Bernice Leigh Dreher Dale Eugene Dreher EMIL OLIVER DREHER Death came to Emil Dreher at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital, Hastings, on Sunday, February 13, 1977 following an illness of about two months. Emil Oliver Drehr was born March 19, 1896 to John G. and Amelia Dreher of Frontier County, Nebraska. In 1899 the family moved to Gosper County and lived on a farm about four and one-half miles south of Elwood. He attended country school at District 31. Emil was baptized into the First Christian Church of Elwood on December 4, 1911. On April 5, 1919 he was united in marriage to Abbie Steinbrink at North Platte. To this union three children were born, Ellen, Bernice and Dale. The family farm south of Elwood was Emil's home for many years until 1948 when they had a farm sale and spent the winter in Alexandria, Virginia. He and his wife, Abbie, returned to make their home in Hastings in 1949. They were employed at Hastings Regional Center for a period of about twelve years, at which time they retired. Emil and Abbie celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in April of 1969. Emil transferred his membership to the First Christian Church in Hastings November 27, 1949. He was an active and faithful member and also served as a deacon for many years in the First Christian Churches of Elwood and Hastings. He loved to work in his garden and enjoyed showing it and sharing it with others. He is survived by a daughter-in-law, Alice Jean; son-in-law, Orey; two brothers, C.H. of Hastings and Orin of Elwood; two sisters, Maude Boerkircher of Cozad and Matilda Hibbs of Elwood. Surviving also are 10 grand-children and 18 great grandchildren, other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held Wednesday morning in the Elwood Christian Church. Officiating were Rev. Lawrence laird and Father John Dreher. Organist was Mrs. J.J. Leggott, who also accompanied Steinbrink, soloist. Casket bearers were Robert, Steve and Rodney Dreher, Ed Lange, Robert Stone and James S. Leggott. Interment was in Elwood Cemetery.
