Gagne, 90, went to be with the Lord on Nov. 6, 2010, after a stay of only five days at the Veterans Administration Center at Togus with his loving family by his side after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Waterville on Oct. 2, 1920, the son of Ephrem and Marie Clara (Giguere) Gagne. He was educated in local schools and had attended courses for two years at Thomas College in Waterville. Gagne, 90, went to be with the Lord on Nov. 6, 2010, after a stay of only five days at the Veterans Administration Center at Togus with his loving family by his side after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Waterville on Oct. 2, 1920, the son of Ephrem and Marie Clara (Giguere) Gagne. He was educated in local schools and had attended courses for two years at Thomas College in Waterville. Emile served in the U.S. Army for two years, being injured in a military accident spending nine months in the hospital recovering from his injuries and receiving a medal. Emile and Theresa Wilson of Brunswick were married on Oct. 3, 1942, in Brunswick. Emile had formerly worked at the Brunswick Naval Air Station in Brunswick and had retired from the U.S. Post Office after serving 30 years and retiring at age 72. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans, the Bourque-Lanigan Post 5 American Legion in Waterville and a 3rd Degree member of the former Waterville Council Knights of Columbus #148. He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Theresa (Wilson) Gagne of Waterville; two daughters, Joan T. Meier and husband George H. of Oakland and Lorraine M. Landry of Waterville; his son, Robert J. Gagne and wife Patti of Waterville; brother: Larry Gagne of East Hartford, Conn., and sister Jeannette Belanger and husband Ronald of Topsham; also by grandchildren: Michael Meier and Debbie Meier both of Oakland, Carrie Landry Peterson and husband Nick of Chandler, Ariz., Mindy Landry of St. Petersburg, Fla., Renee Gagne of Waterville and stepgranddaughter Randi Burns; two great-grandchildren: Zachary and Maxwell Meier of Belgrade; and many nieces and nephews. Many thanks to his sister-in-law Yvette and his brother Larry and all the family members who helped out at his time of need. Committal prayers with military honors will be in St. Francis Catholic Cemetery, Grove Street, in Waterville. (Morning Sentinel 11/8/2010)
