Description	:	Emily D. Kuehl was born on June 4,1911, the daughter of John and Ida Jensen Lafrentz. She died on Monday, Dec. 16, 1991 at the Denison Care Center in Denison, Iowa at the age of 80 years. Emily was born on a farm in Otter Creek Township, near Schleswig. She received her education in a rural school near her home, and as a young girl she helped her family on the farm. Emily was born on a farm in Otter Creek Township, near Schleswig. She received her education in a rural school near her home, and as a young girl she helped her family on the farm. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith as an adult at Immanuel Luthern Church in Schleswig. On Dec. 18, 1929, Emily was united in marriage to Hans Kuehl at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Schleswig and the couple was blessed with the birth of one son. After their marriage, the couple farmed in the region until they purchased a farm in Morgan Township in 1952 where they remained until moving to Schleswig in the fall of 1960 when they retired. She was a devoted wife and mother who worked hard on the farm and caring for her family. She enjoyed cooking and baking, and occupied her free time gardening and caring for the many flowers she had. On October 1, 1991, Emily moved to the Denison Care Center in Denison. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Hans and one brother. Funeral services were held Thursday, Dec. 19, 1991 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Schleswig. The Rev. Richard Nelson and the Rev. Donald R. Wagner officiated the service and graveside rites held at the Morgan Cemetery in Schleswig.
