Kearns daughter of Ezra M. and Eliza Bennett was born near Paralta, Iowa February 1, 1866. She united with the Presbyterian church when a girl and was a consistent faithful member until she had a clearer view of God's word and plan for his people. She then obeyed the gospel and wore no name but christian. She longed and prayed that God's people might be one. In her last prayer less than an hour before she was stricken she had prayed that love divine might fill all hearts and unite in holy service all God's children. She was a devoted sister and loved and sacrificed for her brothers whom she loved dearer than her own life. The father was revered and less than three weeks ago when the news of his condition was learned the first thought was how best can I serve God and when spoked to by her husband she consented to close with her husband their present work and move back to Paralta that she might be near her father and grandmother that she might minister to their wants. On June 7, 1900, she was married to Frank Valentine Kearns, and in sweet companionship they journeyed for twelve years. A boy came to gladen their hearts. With a kind motherly love she guided the young life, and a little over one year ago her heart was made to rejoice when her boy accepted Christ as his savior. On last Lord's day she taught her class in Bible school and then went home as a blindness seemed to be creeping over her. At 11:30 she was stricken with apoplexy and at 4:12 P.M. she passed to be with Jesus. She leaves to mourn her home-going her husband and son, her father, her dear and aged grandmother, and three brothers beside many other relatives and friends. A brief funeral service was conducted at the Christain church in this city (New Sharon, Iowa) Monday afternoon and on Tuesday morning the remains were taken to her former home, Paralta, Iowa where services were conducted by Rev. S.B. Ross of Fairfield and interment was made in Paralta.
