Description	:	Emily Frances French was born July 20, 1926, at Wyoming, Iowa. She was the daughter of William L. and Millie Wood French. Emily attended Wyoming schools until 10th grade and she later got her G.E.D. She went to work at Century Engineering in Cedar Rapids where she made detonators for bombs. She later worked at Collins Radio. Emily married Harry Boots Jr. on July 17, 1943, at Trinity Methodist Church, Cedar Rapids. Read More	Emily Frances French was born July 20, 1926, at Wyoming, Iowa. She was the daughter of William L. and Millie Wood French. Emily attended Wyoming schools until 10th grade and she later got her G.E.D. She went to work at Century Engineering in Cedar Rapids where she made detonators for bombs. She later worked at Collins Radio. Emily married Harry Boots Jr. on July 17, 1943, at Trinity Methodist Church, Cedar Rapids. While Harry was stationed in California, Emily worked as a cook and in the laundry at New Vandenberg Air Force Base. She also worked in a lettuce factory and picked sage. In February 1944, Harry went overseas and Emily returned to Iowa. After the war, Emily and Harry lived in the Toddville area. In 1960, they moved to a farm in Richland Township, Jones County, Iowa. Emily then milked cows and ran an upholstery shop for many years. In retirement, Emily was a volunteer at senior dining in Monticello and was a pie lady at the Presbyterian church. In 2014, she received the Governor's Volunteer Award. Emily created many quilts for charity events and for family members. She also knit and crocheted a lot of Christmas ornaments and gifts for family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harry Boots Jr.; a son, Harry Boots III; two sisters, Chrystal Burke and Willene Lamphierl two brothers, Lumir and Grover Frenchl and two infant sisters, Annis and Clara.
